Some Consequences of the Generalised Uncertainty Principle : Statistical Mechanical , Cosmological , and Varying Speed of Light
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the dynamical consequences of Maggiore’s unique generalised uncertainty principle (GUP). We find that it leads naturally, and generically, to novel consequences. In the high temperature limit, there is a drastic reduction in the degrees of freedom, of the type found, for example, in strings far above the Hagedorn temperature. In view of this, the present GUP may perhaps be taken as the new version of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, conjectured by Atick and Witten to be responsible for such reduction. Also, the present GUP leads naturally to varying speed of light and modified dispersion relations. They are likely to have novel implications for cosmology and black hole physics, a few of which we discuss qualitatively. PACS numbers: 11.25.-w, 05.90.+m, 98.80.Cq, 04.70.-s

Cosmological argument in proving the existence of God from Imam Khomeini's (RA) point of view
This article reviews Cosmological argument in proving the existence of God from the viewpoint of Imam Khomeini (RA). At first, various views to the existence of God are reviewed and then its etymology will be reviewed. Cosmological argument proves God through universal premises about truth and world and and the Movement Argument, Casual Argument and Necessity and Possibility Argument are dif...
متن کاملCanonical thermostatics of ideal gas in the frame work of generalized uncertainty principle
The statistical consequences of minimal length supposition are investigated for a canonical ensemble of ideal gas. These effects are encoded in the so-called Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) of the second order. In the frame work of the considered GUP scenario, a unique partition function is obtained by using of two different methods of quantum and classical approaches. It should be noti...
متن کاملCosmological Horizons, Uncertainty Principle and Maximum Length Quantum Mechanics
The cosmological particle horizon is the maximum measurable length in the Universe. The existence of such a maximum observable length scale implies a modification of the quantum uncertainty principle. Thus due to non-locality of quantum mechanics, the global properties of the Universe could produce a signature on the behaviour of local quantum systems. A Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) ...
متن کاملQuantum birth of the Universe in the varying speed of light cosmologies
– In the framework of the varying speed of light theory the Wheeler-DeWitt equation is considered in the minisuperspace approximation. The quantum potential is obtained and the tunneling probability is studied in both Vilenkin and Hartle-Hawking approaches. Introduction. – Recently the cosmological implications of a variable speed of light have been considered in several papers. Varying speed o...
متن کاملElastic analysis of functionally graded rotating thick cylindrical pressure vessels with exponentially-varying properties using power series method of Frobenius
Based on the Frobenius series method, stresses analysis of the functionally graded rotating thick cylindrical pressure vessels (FGRTCPV) are examined. The vessel is considered in both plane stress and plane strain conditions. All of the cylindrical shell properties except the Poisson ratio are considered exponential function along the radial direction. The governing Navier equation for this pro...
